Surabaya—A student of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University of Tulungagung (UIN SATU Tulungagung) has won First Place in the National Robotics Championship in the International Robotic and Competition (IRTC) event. He is Imam Malik, a 7th Semester student from the Sharia Business Management Study Program (MBS) of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI).

The event, which took place from 9 to 10 November 2024 at the Trans Icon Surabaya Venue, was attended by approximately 280 teams. This National Championship was held to commemorate Santri Day and Heroes’ Day in 2024 with the theme “Today’s Santri, for the Future of Indonesia”.

Imam Malik won First Place in the Sumo IoT 500gr category. Imam Malik said that there are four competition categories in this National Championship, including Sumo IoT and Soccer IoT with classes of 200gr, 500gr, 1kg, 3kg, 5kg, then legged, as well as the Line Follower Analog/Micro and Maze Solving Coding/Pro categories.

“So, the participants who took part in the 2024 National Robotics Championship ranged from Elementary School level or equivalent to State and Private Universities from various regions in Indonesia. And Alhamdulillah I finally won the Sumo IoT 500 Gr category at the 2024 National Robotics Championship,” he said.

Imam also expressed his gratitude to UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, parents, and friends who had provided support so that he could achieve brilliant achievements and make extraordinary contributions to his beloved campus.

“For this achievement, I would like to thank the ranks of the UIN SATU Tulungagung campus who previously gave me the trust to participate in the championship and to my parents, I am very grateful for their guidance, and my friends for their support so far. All the results I have achieved are thanks to the prayers of everyone behind my scenes,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FEBI UIN SATU Tulungagung, Muniri, gave positive appreciation to Imam Malik’s achievement in the National Robotics Championship. According to him, this is also quite special because even though he is from the MBS Study Program which is far from the field of Science and Technology, this achievement can be carved by the student.

“This is important and we must support it, because even though there is an orientation to foster them according to their respective study programs, the potential outside the study program also needs to be optimized so that it will be useful for students later when they enter the world of work,” he said.
