Tulungagung – The Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program (MAZAWA) at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung held a Curriculum Review on February 11, 2026, in the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the Saifudin Zuhri Building. This activity involved various Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ) across the Kediri Residency as part of an effort to align the curriculum with the needs of the zakat and waqf industry.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, including the Dean, Vice Deans, and the Coordinator of the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program. Stakeholders from Zakat and Waqf Management Organizations (OPZ) throughout the Kediri Residency were also present, including representatives from BAZNAS, LAZISNU, LAZISMU, Nurul Hayat, Persada, and Yatim Mandiri. Additionally, students from the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program were also involved as part of the academic community who experienced the curriculum’s implementation firsthand.
This review aimed to evaluate and review the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program curriculum that has been implemented to date. The evaluation was conducted to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant, adaptive, and responsive to developments in regulations, technology, and the needs of the zakat and waqf management industry.
During the discussion forum, OPZ representatives provided various constructive input regarding competencies needed in the field. Several aspects of focus included

strengthening zakat institutional management, digitizing fund collection and distribution, good governance-based governance, sharia financial reporting, and improving soft skills such as communication, leadership, and professional ethics for amil (amil).
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and industry practitioners. He stated that the curriculum must be aligned with the real needs of the workforce so that graduates are competitive and professionally prepared.
“A good curriculum is one that aligns with industry needs. Therefore, input from the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program is crucial to ensure graduates of the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program are truly prepared to become competent and trustworthy zakat and waqf managers,” he said.
Through this activity, the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving academic quality and strengthening institutional networks. This curriculum review is expected to produce strategic reforms, so that MAZAWA graduates excel not only theoretically but also professionally and are relevant to the needs of the zakat and waqf industry at the regional and national levels.
